Select The Best Content To Drive Traffic Using Medium

To get good results on Medium, it’s important to choose the right content carefully. Not every article from your blog will connect with the Medium community, so you’ll need to concentrate on the types of posts that tend to perform well on this platform.

Medium readers often prefer personal stories, thoughtful opinions, and they like to go a little deeper into niche topics.

Let me show you how to pick the most suitable content from what you’ve already created.

Use Your Best Performing Posts

Start with your blog posts that have already done well with your audience. These are the ones that readers have engaged with before and are likely to have movement on Medium too.

Short and Stand Alone Posts

Shorter blog posts that can stand alone and encourage conversation are always good for Medium’s format.

Add Visuals and Infographics

Articles with images or infographics will get more attention. A good picture or visual element within your post will enhance your message and make it even more engaging for readers.

Video Into Text

If you have video content on your blog or website, consider putting it into written form. The stories and ideas shared in your videos can find a new audience on Medium.

Always keep an eye on your analytics to see which types of posts drive the most engagement or shares. This can help you figure out what will work best for you on Medium.

Pay attention to what’s currently popular on Medium. If some of your content matches trending topics, it could help more people discover your work. Posts that solve problems or share interesting ideas will often attract the most readers.

How To Write Content That Drives Blog Traffic On Medium

Writing for Medium isn’t quite the same as blogging on your own site. While I stick to my unique voice, I’ve also learned to change a few things to match Medium’s style and the preferences of its readers.

Articles between 500-700 words are good here because they’re easy to read and provide enough information to keep readers interested.

So, instead of just copying and pasting my blog posts from here, I take the time to edit them, and I concentrate on making the content clear, and engaging for Medium readers.

This means cutting out some of the unnecessary fluff, focusing on the main points, and making sure the introduction grabs people’s attention right away.

Medium readers enjoy stories that contain personal experiences along with useful information, making the content relatable and engaging.

When I adapt my content for Medium, I try to connect on a personal level while at the same time sharing information that’s useful and engaging. I try to create something that informs and builds a connection with the audience.

I also make use of some niche research tools (I use the tools from Wealthy Affiliate) to be sure my topics meet with what Medium readers are searching for. These tools help me write my posts in such a way that they reach the right audience.

By taking the time to put in this effort, I can create articles that stand out on Medium and direct readers back to my blog.

Format Your Content To Drive More Traffic To Your Blog

Before you publish your content on Medium, it’s important to take a moment to make sure your article is easy to read and looks good. Medium readers appreciate content that’s simple, clear, and visually appealing.

Formatting

Medium’s editor makes it easy to organize your content.

  • Break up your writing with clear headers and short paragraphs so it’s easier to follow.
  • Use bold or italics to highlight important points, but keep it subtle.
  • Leave plenty of space between sections to make the page feel open and inviting.

Adding Images

Images can make your article more engaging.

  • Choose pictures that fit your content and help tell the story.
  • A good visual can make even a difficult or complex idea easier to understand.

Tags And Visibility

Medium’s tagging system can help your article get seen by the right people.

  • Pick tags that relate to your topic and are popular on Medium. This helps more readers find your work.

Linking To Your Blog

If you’re adding links to your blog, make sure you think about where they go.

  • Include links where readers are likely to want more information.
  • Make sure the links feel natural and helpful, not like a sales pitch.

Although Medium isn’t a traditional SEO platform, learning how its search and recommendation systems work can help your articles get noticed by more readers.

It is worth knowing that taking the time to format your content well can make a big difference in how readers connect with your work and find their way to your blog.

  1. It is interesting to find your piece on Medium. Just last month I landed on a training talking specifically on the use of Medium. I just tried it last month with one post. Didn’t get much there but that is fine and understood.

I am still coming back to my work routine, and Medium has been added to my routine as a place to further discuss my ideas.

The one thing I didn’t get, or it seems I didn’t read it well, is how SEO works in Medium. Is it the use of hashtags or through the use of searchable keywords? In case it is searchable keywords, do I follow normal search engine keywords? or is there a list of keywords specifically for Medium?

    • Hello and it’s great that you’ve started using Medium as a platform to share your ideas, even if it’s just one post so far.

Adding it to your routine is a good strategy and it will give your thoughts a broader audience.

With regards to your question about SEO on Medium, it mainly revolves around using searchable keywords rather than hashtags.

Medium tends to prefer articles that are optimized with relevant keywords in the title, subtitles, and throughout the article itself.

It’s similar to how you’d approach SEO on traditional search engines. In other words, think about what terms your target audience might use to search for the topics you’re writing about and include those keywords naturally in your text.

There isn’t a specific list of keywords for Medium, so sticking to general SEO principles is your best bet.

If you put your focus into creating valuable content and using these keywords thoughtfully, your visibility on Medium should gradually improve.

      I hope this helps you.
