When you first join Wealthy Affiliate and its community, it won’t take too long before the points, rankings and activity lists catch your eye, and that’s the reason I wanted to put this Wealthy Affiliate Leaderboards Explained post on my website.
At the time of writing this in November 2025, it’s a fairly new system and it replaces the old Ambassador system that many of us older members were used to. One thing you might be asking is whether these numbers actually matter for your progress or if they can distract you away from what you came here to do, which is learning the platform, building your website and staying focused.
That’s why I decided to write this post in a simple way, so you can understand how the Leaderboards work without feeling your attention being pulled away from your actual goals. I think this is particularly important, especially if you’re a beginner.
What Are the Wealthy Affiliate Leaderboards?
The Wealthy Affiliate Leaderboards simply show us who has been the most active inside the community over the last few weeks. They don’t measure earnings or website performance. They just track activity, like posting updates, answering questions and taking part in the day to day conversations that happen inside of WA.
You’ll see the Leaderboards on your dashboard when you log in and they update in real time, so the names move around as people take part, write posts or help others out. It’s an easy system that lets you see who has been involved recently without making it feel like a competition.
For many newer members, the Leaderboards can help you find people who are active and willing to answer questions for you more quickly. It can make it easier to find your way around or get the help you need without having to search through endless posts. That’s really all it’s there for – to highlight recent activity and give you an idea of who is around if you need help with something.
One extra thing which I think is worth mentioning is that some of your activity can also earn you a little money inside WA itself. OK, it’s nothing huge, but it’s a nice bonus for being active and helping the community.

Some people I know like taking part in the community every day of the week while others spend more of their time on building their websites.

Most people who see progress with their websites put their efforts into their own work and don’t follow the rankings that closely. I mean, I know the Leaderboards are there, and it’s nice to see some money coming in through my activity, but they do not take me away from this website.
I just look at them as a way to highlight who has been active recently and I can see the people who are around if I need help with something.
On saying that, if you’re someone who enjoys the community side of things, you might find yourself taking part more often and earning points along the way. If not, that’s also okay.

It’s possible to be extremely active on the Wealthy Affiliate platform and have a good amount of points and high rankings, but spend very little time on your own business and website, so I think it’s important not to mix the two up.

There’s always a lot going on inside Wealthy Affiliate.
There are classes, training modules, blogs, questions and so on. Because of this, you’ll see a lot of movement on the Leaderboards as different people take part each day, but in all honesty, you don’t need to worry about keeping up with any of that.
Your position on the list has nothing to do with how well your website will perform or how much you can earn online and I have seen some people become so involved inside the platform that they make little to no progress with their online business.
It’s important that you don’t fall into this trap, and it’s easy to do.
If you enjoy taking part in the community, you will earn points naturally as you go along, and that’s the best way to go about it. It’s what I do.

I didn’t really understand how the Leaderboards worked before, not entirely anyways, so this cleared things up a little for me.
I like how you explained the different ways the points are earned and how it all ties into being active in the community. One thing I’m still wondering though is how beginners should fix their time between being active on WA and actually working on their websites.

I think a lot of people struggle with that in the beginning, and it’s completely normal. WA is a busy platform and it’s easy to get involved in the activity side of things without realising how much time has passed.
Personally, I think it’s better to get your website work done first before getting involved in anything else. After you have completed your daily goals move on to the community side of things if you have a bit of time left over.
Even 30 to 60 minutes of writing or training each day will move your business forward far more than trying to gather activity points.
Being active in WA is nice and it does help you to meet people, but your business progress still comes from the content you publish and the work you do on your own website.
As long as beginners keep that as their main focus, they’ll be fine.

I wish my journey had started at WA like yours, but I spent 2011–2014 bouncing between overhyped programs and flat out scams before I finally found Wealthy Affiliate and went Premium in 2014.

I know exactly what you mean about bouncing around before finding Wealthy Affiliate. My own start wasn’t smooth either. I also didn’t begin here from day one and I also went through a fair few wrong turns and disappointments before eventually making my way over.
Looking back, I sometimes wish I’d landed here earlier too, but at least we got here in the end.
I’m really glad the information on the Leaderboards helped. The system is decent, but like you said, it can pull people off track if they let it. Focusing on your own business will always get you further than chasing after points.
